World's Largest Swimming Lesson™

The nation's top water safety and training organizations are joining forces to present The 11th annual World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ (WLSL) to build awareness about the vital importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning. Due to delayed opening dates for most aquatic venues brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the official date for the 2020 World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ has been moved to Thursday, July 16th. Host locations also may host their WLSL event on any day they choose in June, July or August. In Summer 2020, waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities around the globe will host local WLSL lessons in an attempt to make noise that Swimming Lessons Save Lives

Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for children ages 1-14. The World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ was created in 2010 by the World Waterpark Association to serve as a platform to help local community aquatic facilities and the many different national, regional and state wide water safety and drowning prevention organizations work together to tell this important story on a local and national level.
