Background Information Specific To The Water Leisure Industry:

ASTM Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices was formed in 1978. F24 meets twice a year, usually in February and October, with approximately 350 members from around the world attending two or three days of technical meetings.

The F24 Committee, with current membership of approximately 1,000 members representing 26 countries, currently has jurisdiction of 19 standards, published in the “Annual Book of ASTM Standards,” Volume 15.07. The latest edition of the standards managed by the F24 Committee was released in November 2018 and is available to purchase. These standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in all aspects important to amusement rides and devices. Specific standards of note for amusement rides and devices are:

F770-21 Standard Practice for Ownership, Operation, Maintenance, and Inspection of Amusement Rides and Devices

Within ASTM Committee F24 are a dozen subcommittees, which address specific segments within the general subject area covered by the technical committee. ASTM F24.70 specifically focus on Water Related Amusement Rides and Devices.
