Become a Be Water Aware™ Member Park!


Drowning is the 2nd leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1-14. Let your guests know you put WATER SAFETY FIRST with the new WWA Be Water Aware™ Designation. The Be Water Aware Member Kit will help you educate your guests on water safety. The Kit includes a variety of Public Service Announcements featuring Olympic athletes speaking on how to stay safe in the water, as well as radio and in-park announcements, posters, window decals and more.

Here's what you get in the kit:

PSA’s featuring Olympic Champions Amanda Beard, Janet Evans, Rowdy Gaines, Jason Lezak and Mark Spitz.  These 15 PSA's can be used by your local television stations or as in-park videos to remind guests and your community of your commitment to safety.  See below for a sample of a PSA from each athlete. You can view additional PSA's on the BeWaterAware channel on YouTube.  Important safety messages presented on the DVD are:

  •   “Follow the Rules” (Gaines and Spitz)
  •   “Learn to Swim” (Evans, Gaines, Lezak and Spitz)
  •   “Lifevests” (Gaines, Lezak and Spitz)
  •   “Parental Supervision” (Beard, Evans, Gaines, and Spitz)
  •   “Sun Safety” (Beard and Gaines) 

Radio PSA announcements featuring Olympic Champions.  Nine (9) radio announcements featuring safety messages read by national voiceover talent, as well as the Olympic athletes. In-park Safety Announcements featuring Olympic Champions. See below for a sample In-Park Safety Announcements. You hear additional PSA's on the BeWaterAware channel on YouTube. The DVD features 16 safety messages read by the Olympic athletes:

Posters featuring safety messages.  Below you'll see eye-catching full-color posters with safety reminders for guests. (Small parks receive 2 boy and 2 girl, 18" x 24" posters; large parks receive 4 boy and 4 girl posters.)

Be Water Aware Member Park Window clings.  Let your guests know your designation as a Be Water Aware™ Member Park by displaying these window clings on ticket booths or other glass surfaces.  Two 6" x 4" clings are included in each kit. See sample below.

Be Water Aware logo.  The DVD includes electronic files of the Be Water Aware logo in various high resolution formats that you can use on your web site and in your marketing to further promote safety.

Be Water Aware™ PR Guide

To help WWA members take advantage of the positive opportunities presented by this community-service kit, the World Waterpark Association offers a detailed public-relations "How-to" Guide. Available in electronic format, this kit provides tips on generating publicity surrounding water awareness during National Water Safety Month and the regular season. The Guide also includes ways in which park members can communicate with the media and creative public relations suggestions members can use to promote their efforts.

Specifically, the Be Water Aware PR™ Guide includes:

  • Tips on communicating with the media
  • Hints on creative public relations
  • Steps on how to write a press release
  • Actual press releases members can send to the local media
  • Ideas on developing a media list
  • Advice on distributing a press release
  • Advice on how to use the Be Water Aware™ Member Kit components
  • Print-ready Public Service Announcements (PSAs) members can send to the local media with related pitch letters
  • Radio PSA scripts you can send to local radio stations
  • Suggestions on developing informational fliers

To order your kit, clickw to all WWA member parks that are current on their member dues at the time of the order. Shipping charges for orders placed within the continental U.S. are include in the total price listed below. All taxes are included in the prices below.

Be Water Aware™ Member Kit for small park members (less than 250,000 annual attendance): US $100 

Be Water Aware™ Member Kit for large park members (250,000 or more annual attendance): US $200
